July 26, 1932 ~ March 17, 2017
As you have probably heard, our founder, leader, mentor and friend, Hugh Hardy, passed away on Friday, March 17. We at H3 are deeply saddened and will miss him tremendously, but will forever be guided and inspired by Hugh’s brilliance, wit and irreverence.
Hugh was an influential force in architecture since his early days working with the famous set designer Jo Mielziner and architect Eero Saarinen on the design of Lincoln Center Theater. Throughout his legendary career guiding Hugh Hardy Associates, Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer & Associates, and then H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, Hugh championed extraordinary experiences and community, over style and form making. His approach was genuinely collaborative, never single minded, and always with an eye toward the future.
The remaining principals of H3 – Ariel Fausto, John Fontillas and Daria Pizzetta – remain steadfast in continuing Hugh’s commitment to our firm’s clients, collaborators, and friends. We will continue to create memorable architecture inspired by Hugh’s legacy.
