Alicante Congress Centre

The Alicante Congress Centre represents a reinvention of the usual type of Convention Centre.   Designed as a point of cultural confluence, our progressive design encourages the connection between the various programs and creates a welcoming environment for community gatherings.  The design incorporates meeting spaces and encourages interaction among attendees, providing them with inspiring public environments with frontal views of Alicante Bay.

The new conference center is a light-filled space with spectacular views of both the sea and to the city in various directions.  The functional organization of the congress centre is straightforward.  A large arrival space connects all meeting spaces and eliminates communication barriers, allowing for easily interconnected open spaces.  Auditoriums are lined up according to size, from the largest to the north, and the smallest to the south.  Each auditorium is contained in a curved volume, the surface covered in wood.  In front of the auditoriums are lined by a broad foyer with a glass front, which functions as a link between the different auditoriums.  On the opposite side of the foyer, to the west, is the service and support area of the Congress Center.  On the first level, an unloading yard with a rotating truck platform allows efficient operation of the maneuvering area and discharge, which the complex requires daily.

Creating a sustainable and appropriate landscape for its environment is the main objective of our proposal. The selection of plants typical of the region, which require minimal water consumption, is essential for a responsible approach that will positively impact on the city, its users and, above all, the environment.  Water is a resource that must be approached with the utmost care and our proposal reflects a deep understanding of the nature of the landscape both functional, aesthetic, comfortable and sustainable in the long term. The use of elements: solids, shade, natural grass and stones, contributes to the creation of a green dock.
